Dr. Park is a celebrated Korean-American solo pianist, chamber musician and teacher — and the First Prize winner of Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition. He is currently an assistant professor at Azusa Pacific University and an adjunct professor at Fullerton College. In 2018, Dr. Park was appointed an honorable Shigeru Kawai Artist.
Dr. Park studied piano at the Idyllwild Arts Academy with Nelms McKelvain, before completing his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees with John Perry at the University of Southern California.
He plays around the world with his own group, the Park Trio, and has been invited to perform with leading orchestras, including El Camino College/CTS Orchestra, the Dosan Philharmonic Orchestra, the ICO Orchestra and the OMC Orchestra. During the summer season, Dr. Park is a faculty member of John Perry Academy of Music, Montecito International Music Festival, Lansum Music Festival, ASIA International Piano Academy & Festival in Korea, and the Idyllwild Summer Program.
Dr. Park also serves as a conductor and is the director of music at the New Life Vision Church, the conductor of the Montecito International Music Festival Youth Orchestra and the conductor of Laguna Road School Choir among other choirs and festivals.
Throughout his career, Dr. Park has performed at world-famous venues, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, McCallum Theatre, Pasadena Pacific Civic Auditorium, Muckenthaler Art Center, Thayer Hall, Nixon’s Library, Idyllwild Arts Concert Hall, UCLA Concert Hall and Fullerton College Theatre.
Dr. Park is an in-demand private studio teacher in Fullerton, Orange County, where his pupils have won numerous national honors. In addition, Dr. Park has been invited to give masterclasses and lectures in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States. He is also the chairperson of MTNA’s Annual Evaluation and Sonata/Sonatina Competition and a judge of the Lansum Competition, SYMF and MTAC competitions including CM Advanced Panel.
His students have won prizes at local, national and international level in competitions like the Hong Kong International Competition, Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the Seattle International Piano Competition, the Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition and the Moscow Music Center Competition.
Dr. Park’s students are highly sought after and have been accepted into world-famous universities and conservatories, including Standford, Harvard and Yale, The Juilliard School, The New England Conservatory of Music, Berklee College of Music, Peabody Music School, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music among many, many others.
