Dr. William M. Skoog is a renowned conductor and a Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies in the Department of Music at Rhodes College.
He studied at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, graduating with a masters of arts in conducting before acquiring his doctorate in choral conducting and opera voice at the University of Northern Colorado.
His students perform with distinction the world over. He has conducted a variety of university choirs alongside numerous prestigious orchestras. These include the Toledo Symphony, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Elkhart Symphony and Chorus.
In addition, he has prepared choruses for the likes of Edvard Tchivzhel, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Giordano Bellincampi, and Mei Ann Chen — and conducted at a number of Choral Festivals. Career highlights include conducting a President’s Day Festival at the Kennedy Center and a festival concert with the New England Symphony at Carnegie Hall.
His work has been widely published in a number of prestigious journals including the Choral Journal, Music Educators Journal, and Cambridge Scholars Press in the UK. He has also presented at several conferences, including MENC, the International Conference on the Literature of War and ACDA.
