George Kolasis
Expert Piano Technician
George Kolasis is a renowned Canadian piano technician. Few people could claim to know the piano as well as Kolasis does. He studied piano building for three years in Vienna, before joining manufacturer Bösendorfer to complete an apprenticeship. Years of dedication to his craft led Kolasis to become one of the company’s most senior and trusted technicians. He travelled extensively across Europe fixing and tuning pianos, first under Bösendorfer and later alongside Peter Salisbury.
At the start of the 1990s, Kolasis returned to Canada, where he became a personal piano technician for many prestigious artists, including Oscar Peterson and Leonard Bernstein and Vladimir Ashkenazy. A particular highlight of Kolasis came when he worked on Oscar Peterson’s personal Bösendorfer Imperial. After finishing the work, he played a few notes along side Dr Peterson just so he could say “now I have played with the great Oscar Peterson!”
Today, he is regarded as one of the most piano technicians in the country, with dozens of high profile endorsements and recommendations. He continues to serve customers in Southern Ontario.
